shawama Wrap local style.
Ingredients
• 2 1/2 cups Flour.
• 1 tsp baking powder,
• salt as desired,
• 48g shortening
• 50g olive oil with 250g water or a cup hot water.
Preparation/ methods
• Sieve flour in a bowl,
• Add salt and stir with baking powder.
• Add shortening to the flour mix
• Mix in well until all of the fat have disappeared.
• If you are using oil,mix with hot water and add to the flour
• Mix until a dough is formed.
• Divide dough into sections , flatten down a bit and place on a tray, rub with oil and cover with a kitchen towel for 30 minutes to avoid drying.
• After 30 mins,place each on a flour board and flatten into a round shape.
• In a non stick pan very hot, place into pan and allow to cook. It should fluff up turn and repeat and place in a towel to avoid drying.
• Repeat until complete.
For the filling,
• You can use the same filling for our chicken lettuce wrap and spice it up a bit to your taste, or you can also Use beef to replace the chicken, your choice.adding extra veggies.
• Place a reasonable quantity in the middle and wrap as tightly as possible.
• Place wraps in a griddle pan and use a heavy pan to press down so that the edges stick.
• enjoy your very own homemade shawama.
